As a Professor of Graphic Design in Michigan State University's Department of Art, Art History, and Design, I balance the most enduring principles with emerging concepts in design practice. Instilling various design processes and ideas through critical and analytical thinking establishes a foundation that empowers students to intelligently approach subsequent projects as they move through the curriculum and confidently into the profession.
The collection here represents recent student work from a variety of classes, in the order assigned. Beginning exercises define tight parameters to focus on specific concepts, and progress towards sequentially advancing assignments. A semester's coursework is synchronized in a final project that integrates the previous lessons.
